The Blue City of Morocco
The blue is Indigo added to a chalk/lime ‘whitewash’.
Traditionally, the light blue was for Muslims, the dark blue for ‘Jews’.
There aren’t many if any Jews in Chefchaouen today.
How has that Gravite cologne commercial not been parodied yet…. my lord it’s soooooooo over the top ridiculous
“They think you are Sikh!”
“The beard and head covering, you look like Sikh.” Jamaal said
“Well with my old ones, they thought I was a Muslim.”
If a Sikh has gone through the ‘Amrit Sanchar’, they are warriors.
It was a common ‘trope’ in old movies. The large, scary, bearded man, wearing a Turban, that rarely spoke, was always a Sikh.
Therefore I got very few ‘Ali Babas’.
Jamaal said “That is joke!”
“Yes” I said “Like Santa Claus or Father Christmas, I get it. Still funny as hell.”
I will post more photos of Chefchaouen (Shafshaywan) and Tangier later.
We are wore out.
I also recorded an ‘Afternoon Call to Prayer’ on video.
Pictures: our room in our ‘Riad’, walking around Tangier, Men Praying in a Mosque.
