‘Ensconsed in “Abilene, Abilene”
“Prettiest town that I’ve ever seen”
— George Hamilton IV
Well we are in Abilene, or as the British woman on my GPS says ‘Abi-Lennie’, Texas.
North Central Texas to be exact.
Not as hot here as near Dallas, as @GregGutfeld is won't to say “that’s a plus”.
Yesterday as I was unhooking the Beast, a gentleman walked up and said;
“Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous!”
(He was talking about the Dude and the Big Blue Beast)
I responded;
“I was lucky, I met her when she was only 17…”
nodding my head towards my beautiful bride, whom was approaching us
That got a ‘fist bump’ from him, then @The_CINC took over, playing interference so I could finish my set up.
Every one wants to talk to me when we are setting up, or tearing down. We can be at a park 2 weeks, nobody will say a word, let me start breaking camp, they come out of the woodwork.
We’ve developed a system, as soon as she hears me talking to someone she quickly comes over to get them away from me.
When I’m hitching up or unhitching, it’s important that I don’t forget anything. People trying to talk to me during these procedures is not a good thing.
If I forget something, it could be ‘muy malo’.
By the way, the song ‘Abilene’ is about Eisenhower’s hometown, Abilene Kansas

“Fuel Stop”
Vaughn NM.
It’s windy as hell and it looks like the end of the world.
We’ve taken the decision to hang in the parking lot for a while.
“Ensconsed in ‘The Land of Enchantment’”
Carlsbad New Mexico.
We will be here two nights, for tomorrow we go to the caverns, Carlsbad NP and Guadalupe NP.
@The_CINC has to get her stamps, and we will go tomorrow night to see the ‘bats’ exiting the caverns.
New Mexico is also the ‘Land of Chile’ as opposed to ‘Chili’.
They take their chiles (peppers) and chile (sauce made from said peppers) seriously.
I went off diet and had a Chorizo and Egg burrito.
“Red or green chile?”
“Could you make it Christmas?” (Both)
“Sure!”
Gotta love NM…
